- What integrated pest management is and how it is applied during the production of an industrial hemp crop.
- What an integrated pest management plan should consist of and why each piece is important.
-
Why you should consider and how to better control ten key variables that heavily influence the cost, efficiency and effectiveness of your hemp IPM program.
- How to best work with external resources, such as extension agents, technical sales people or consultants to continually improve pest and disease control.
About Charlie McKenzie of CropWalk and CropTalk
Cofounder of the natural pest management company CropWalk and host of the popular podcast CropTalk, Charlie McKenzie is a well-known voice in the hemp industry. He’s a former grower and proud UGA horticulture graduate.
After managing a “big-box” twenty-acre bedding plant greenhouse operation and selling plants to Home Depot and Costco, he entered the cannabis industry and spent time managing a 90,000-square foot, high CBD greenhouse and a 15-acre hemp outdoor operation in Colorado. During his time as a grower, he found that consulting with other growers on production efficiency, cultivation practices, and the implementation of integrated pest management is his ultimate passion.
Today, he focuses his time on the two companies he cofounded in 2018: CropWalk, an integrated pest management audit service and Bioculture Group LLC, a high-value crop consultancy firm. About the former, Charlie says, “#startcleanstayclean is the mantra I live by and what CropWalk is all about.”
As the host of CropTalk, the podcast for agricultural leaders, he features innovative members of the agricultural community who share their success stories, challenges, and journey to produce quality crops and run successful businesses.
About the big picture, he adds, “In my opinion, family is just as important, if not more important, than farming. I am a proud husband to Elizabeth and father to Gabriel and Dahlia. They are the reason that I am so passionate about working to fill our future with clean food, clean flowers and clean medicine.”
